Tilting West
Artwork: Rick Ragels, “Meanwhile at the Pass”
Tilting West is a large-scale group exhibition that reexamines the genre of the American West through a contemporary lens. Blending invited and juried artists from across the region, the exhibition includes 12 invited artists and 102 selected works chosen from 1,555 submissions by 335 artists. This exhibition presents a wide range of perspectives that engage with and challenge the traditions within Western art. Through fresh interpretations of place, identity, land, and culture, this exhibition explores how the mythology of the West continues to shape the present, inviting audiences to experience the region not as a fixed idea, but as a living and evolving landscape of histories, communities, and possibilities.
Selections by incarcerated artists will feature work by artists Dennis Cochran, Jason Cuomo, Eric Laurson, and Rick Ragels. Though depicting traditional Western scenes, these works offer profound insight into the power of art as resistance and reconnection, showcasing how these artists, unable to access the landscapes they depict, maintain a vital connection to the natural world through creativity.

Who Gets To Flourish? Art and Access to Personal and Collective Restoration
Artwork: HEAL (Lynell Hill), “Emissary”
This exhibition emerges from a shared question between Impact Arts and CrossPurpose, a nonprofit committed to abolishing relational, economic, and spiritual poverty through career and community development.
As CrossPurpose cultivates spaces of opportunity and belonging, this gallery expands that work using art as a site of reflection, interruption, and healing. Featuring work by incarcerated artists Sonny Lee, Hector Castillo, Riccardo Kirven, Mario Rios, and Lynell Hill, Who Gets To Flourish? invites viewers to confront the systems of mass incarceration that shape access to safety, creativity, stability, and restoration.
Through these works, we are asked to reconsider what conditions are necessary for individuals and communities impacted by the criminal-legal system to truly flourish.
